August 10, 2022 | Read Time: 4 minutes

With the recent re-opening of Tesoro Club’s Swim & Racquet Club, many eyes have turned to the ownership team’s plans for their two championship golf courses. With the fall 2022 reopening of the Palmer Course on schedule, the team has announced Matthew Doyle as the Club’s new Head Golf Professional. A PGA Class “A” Member and award-winning professional since 1997, Doyle has helped spearhead the Palmer course’s extensive renovations while also planning an elaborate golf program for future Members. Here’s your chance to meet Doyle and see what he has in store for this private golf club community.

Since he was three years old, Doyle has always had a passion for golf. After playing soccer, tennis, basketball, and golf throughout his childhood, he realized at 14 that golf was where he truly shined. Therefore, he went on to play collegiately at the University of Minnesota, where he was named a Big Ten Freshman of the Year. Doyle then turned professional and moved to Florida, where he played at the PGA Qualifying School, became the 2016 New England Champion, the 2020 South Florida PGA Championship runner-up, and received numerous other accolades. After a decade of tournament play, Doyle shifted to the country club world. From caddie and membership salesman to eventually Director of Golf, he showed his dedication to the sport and its Members at The Dye Preserve in Jupiter, Turtle Creek Golf Club in Tequesta, and the Misquamicut Club in Rhode Island.

Doyle is looking forward to bringing his decades of golf experience to the Tesoro Club team. “I’m here because I see the potential in the property and the opportunity to work with a great ownership group who I truly believe are building a great Club. I love the project, so I moved up here to be a part of the Tesoro family.”

Renovations Nearing Completion on the Palmer Golf Course

With plans to reopen its Palmer Course in fall 2022, Doyle and the ownership team have been working on an extensive rehabilitation project for the course. The team has been working hard to bring the course back to the original architect and legendary golfer Arnold Palmer’s standards, focused on stunning natural landscapes and challenging layouts that excite players of all skill levels. From extensive greens work to the rehabilitation of the waterways, the first part of the team’s rehabilitation efforts ensures the courses’ natural beauty reigns supreme. Nature is an instrumental part of this course, and it’s not rare for golfers to spot wildlife such as roseate spoonbills, ibis, turtles, and even fish.

“These projects have been instrumental for the views of the golf course, but more importantly, for the homeowners at the Club,” said Doyle. “Their views are now water and golf views, and they’re spectacular.”

Tesoro Club’s renovation efforts, however, are not just focused on beauty. Rehabilitation projects on the bridges connecting the holes and extensive improvements to the irrigation system created optimal growing and playing conditions on the fairways. A bunker restoration program will bring the course up to PGA standards.

“The golf course is a championship-level, exciting course to play that will surely test you,” said Doyle. “It will bring your adrenaline level up because of the challenges Mr. Palmer put out there for the golfer.”

An Exceptional Golf Program for Players of Every Skill Level

As Tesoro Club plans for the Palmer Course’s reopening, Matthew Doyle will lead the full golf program that will continue to grow over time. Future Members can expect an elevated golf experience, including instruction from a team of golf professionals, equipment fittings at the Golf Pro Shop, and a full calendar of golf activities and events that get the community active, engaged, and simply enjoying the game.

“The experience I want people to have is that they feel as if they are coming into their home,” said Doyle. “Their home is not overbearing, but has a high level of service that’s comfortable. We want to create a really well-knit, comfortable, highly serviced facility.”
